Welcome =)
I think you will get a better answer if you refine your question a bit. ``Writing programs on Linux'' is a vast subject.
Most answers to questions about programming can be found via Google, but information is often spread across several web pages. Good, concise information is mostly not found on web pages, but in books and other documentation. Of course, you can find a lot of information by asking questions in forums like this as well.
http://www.advancedlinuxprogramming.com/
This is the web page of a book that I think is good, it covers a lot, and I think it will answer most of your questions about programming in Linux. It's able to download on the website for free. As the name says, it is advanced and not
intended for the newbie programmer. It is a good read nevertheless.
If that is not what you asked for, try refining you question.

Why do you want to be a "hacker"? Is it to be accepted by your peers. Or is it to make you feel good about yourself.
Hackers are not made, they are born the way they are. We can't help it that instead of worrying about what a girl thinks about us, we would rather know whether or not our NetBOLLIX is ok, or if we have neophilia.
So I ask again, why do you, want to be a hacker?
Yes, really

tomtomtom: That was not what he asked. I agree to what you say about hackers, but that is not really on the topic of this thread. This thread did not begin with "i want to hack pentagon, lol" but with "I seek knowledge, where can I find it?" Nothing about wanting to be a hacker is mentioned. I think that behavior should be encouraged, especially as the topic suggests migration to Linux.

No it's not to be accepted actually... it's like what LarsH said... i'm only looking on ways to expand my mind using computers, that's all.
