Is there anybody who have been/is using BSD?? What are advantages and disadvantages of this OS? Is it good for everyday use?? And how stable is it?

A friend of mine said awhile ago that the kernel is more rigorously QA tested and had much fewer problems. I don't know much about it other than the kernel uses the BSD license which in my opinion is much better and less authoritarian than the GPL.

I am not sure the differences to the end user are going to be very great, since you can use the same types of programs. If you were going to run a server there may be a difference.

Well, I've installed it... looks good, it's faster than linux... haven't tried it as server yet, but for the basic using differences are not significant (except, seems, there's old version of vim in repositories)...

yh bsd is made for "older" pc's thats why it runs faster

but i don't know about the fewer bugs that Allosentient told?

well I know for a fact that Ubuntu linux has all kinds of bugs... I will use debian next time I re-install. Newest version of ubuntu broke my 3d drivers, and I was unable to fix it after 12 hours. I came to the conclusion that my particular video card does not work because it shows up as two devices (and probably other reasons also). Now I know why those "experts" know so much about the various config files. They had to go through the same headaches dealing with the large quantities of bugs.

I also suspect that ATI releases faulty drivers for linux on purpose so that people spend more time trying to troubleshoot those drivers rather than work on the open-source driver (which is crap) which would give ATI competition on the software dominance front.

Well, I've tried to install ATI drivers on my laptop... after installing the proper driver i couldn't start X server...
